History

Good Shepherd Fairview Home resulted from a merger in 1968 of two smaller homes:  The House of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), founded in 1870 on Conklin Avenue, and The Fairview Home (Presbyterian), founded in 1891 as The Home for Aged Women on Fairview Avenue. A board of directors, selected from Episcopal and Presbyterian churches and the community at large, governs the Home. The present building was constructed between 1972 and 1981. In 1993 an expansion was added to the east wing. Many areas of the Home were renovated in 2008. These renovations resulted in an environment throughout the Home that fosters person-centered care.
